About
Welcome to the Good Heart
Not just a cafe, but a community space to help us all be more kind.
The Good Heart is a community initiative which operates solely for public benefit. We focus on promoting kindness to encourage health and happiness and alleviate loneliness and isolation in Frome. By kindness we mean choosing to do things which benefit other people in a spirit of goodwill and solidarity. We think kindness builds neighbourliness and strengthens our community. We provide a cafe space and offer free hot drinks and pay-it-forward meals. We have many other activities and events, including the Frome kindness Festival, and like-minded groups also use our space. The Good Heart is a non-profit organisation registered as a community interest company (No 13896827). The Directors are all Frome residents: Dougie Brown, Rebecca Collins, Karen Creffield, Teresa Hadland, Simon Keyes, Alison Murdoch, Martha Oster. The Good Heart is not a religious organisation.
WHO We ARE

vision, mission & values
Vision
A town where everyone has the opportunity, encouragement and support to develop a positive state of mind and bring more kindness into our community.
Mission
The Good Heart will contribute to the happiness and flourishing of the people of Frome and its surrounding areas by:
-
encouraging kindness and other pro-social behaviours
-
providing activities that explore and promote mental health and wellbeing
-
working with local partners to support health and resilience
Values

-
We can each take responsibility for improving our mental health and resilience, which will then have positive effects on every aspect of our lives, from our physical health to our personal relationships.
-
Developing our capacity for kindness will have a powerful effect on the happiness and wellbeing of ourselves and of the people around us, and help to make Frome a better place to live.
-
Offering children and young people opportunities to develop emotional intelligence and positive behaviours will have an enormous effect on their personal future and on the future of the town, particularly in challenging times.
