About The Event
Why is kindness important?
What difference does it make?
How can we become more kind?
In these five workshops, we’ll explore together how kindness functions as an antidote to difficulties such as anxiety, hopelessness, anger, craving and loneliness, and nurtures positive qualities such as self-acceptance, gratitude, connectedness, openness, courage and confidence. We’ll focus on the everyday difference that kindness can make to us and to the people around us, and try out a range of practical exercises and strategies that can be immediately put to use as we go about our day.
The workshops will integrate traditional contemplative practices with scientific research and is suitable for people of any faith or none. Expect a mixture of simple meditation, discussion, stories, poetry, music, tea and biscuits.
The first evening will be free of charge, after which you have the opportunity to commit to the following four evenings at a total cost of £20/40. There is a maximum of 20 places. If the workshops are over-subscribed, they can be repeated.
Led by Alison Murdoch, founder of The Good Heart and a former Buddhist presenter on BBC Radio.
