Autumn Events at The Good Heart

Updated: Nov 10, 2023

“There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.” -The Dalai Lama What are you hoping for from the coming autumn? Good company and new friends? Skills and insights about how to be more kind and warm-hearted? Sociable and fun ways to help out in the community? Plus an affordable place to relax and enjoy delicious veggie and plant-based food with complimentary hot drinks? Following on from our fifth birthday celebrations in July, The Good Heart is happy to offer you all this and more. Please read on….

With thanks for your continued support, The Good Heart Team

We are delighted that the highly talented musician and storyteller Vicki Burke will be hosting a special 'Fundraiser' afternoon at The Good Heart this coming Sunday. All funds raised will go towards essential improvements at The Good Heart. Limited spaces available so book now to reserve your space! If you are interested in finding out more about Vicki's work, check out her websites! http://www.keystothegoldencity.com http://www.vickiburke.bandcamp.com

Why is kindness important? What difference does it make? How can we become more kind? In these five workshops, led by Alison Murdoch, we’ll explore together how kindness functions as an antidote to difficulties such as anxiety, hopelessness, anger, craving and loneliness, and nurtures positive qualities such as self-acceptance, gratitude, connectedness, openness, courage and confidence. Expect a mixture of simple meditation, discussion, stories, poetry, music, tea and biscuits. The first evening will be FREE of charge, after which you have the opportunity to commit to the following four evenings at a total cost of £20/40. There is a maximum of 20 places.

Would you like to get together with other people who care about kindness and find out more about our plans and activities, and how to get involved? Everyone is welcome to join us at these Sunday afternoon meet-ups. Expect tea, cake and friendly company. FREE of charge. Can’t attend? If for any reason you can’t make it to these meet-ups, but would still like to get involved with The Good Heart, you are welcome to drop an email to Vicki Ross at vickigoodheart@gmail.com

We are now offering weekly breathwork sessions on Monday afternoons. These free sessions are designed to help you reduce stress, enhance your daily performance, and cultivate a deeper sense of well-being. To find out more, click here. To book your spot, please email Sookhi directly.

A special session to mark the United Nation’s Human Rights 75th Anniversary, led by Proseprints. FREE, booking essential.

Frome Kindness Festival 2024

We're delighted to share that we've now secured funding for the third Frome Kindness Festival, which will take place from Saturday 16th to Friday 22nd March 2024. The planning process is starting earlier this year and we hope as many people as possible will get involved. Please come along to the Sunday Meet-Up on 15th October to find out more. Alternatively you can contact Alison, Festival Director, on: amurdoch108@gmail.com.

As you may have noticed, Tibetan Memories have been taking their delicious food out and about to

festivals over the summer. No surprise to see that they are as popular on their travels as they are at The Good Heart!

We’ve been fortunate to fill the gaps with two other wonderful local caterers, in line with our commitment to providing home-cooked veggie and vegan food in the heart of Frome. Big thanks to both Mahalia from Mahalia’s Kitchen and Kelly and Dan from Luna Plant Based Kitchen.

Here are Kelly and Dan, pausing for a moment during a busy lunchtime service at The Good Heart! If you enjoy rainbow salad plates, delicious dips and wholesome soups, be sure to check them out. They will be serving lunch at The Good Heart tomorrow, and will be back again soon! You can find out more about Luna Plant Based Kitchen and follow them on Facebook here.

For those of you who enjoyed Mahalia’s Guyanese and Caribbean infused dishes, we are pleased to share that she will be back to serve food at The Good Heart this Thurs 21st, Fri 22nd and Sat 23rd (12-3pm and 5-7pm). You can follow Mahalia’s Kitchen and see her Good Heart menu here.

Thank you for your ongoing support!
