WORK FOR US

Updated: Nov 15

The Good Heart, 7 Palmer Street, Frome BA11 1DS

Volunteer Coordinator Job Pack, November 2024

BACKGROUND

We are looking for someone to join The Good Heart team on a short-term self-employed basis to manage and develop our volunteer team. Over the past three years The Good Heart has had considerable success in recruiting a team of ‘Kindness Crew’ volunteers for the annual Frome Kindness Festival. We are now looking to enlarge the team, to embed good practice, and to create opportunities for volunteers to support other Frome non-profits once the Festival is over.

The work will be spread over 5 months, from December 2024 to April 2025, with particular intensity during the 4th Frome Kindness Festival 15 – 22 March 2025. The actual hours of work can be flexible but will definitely involve some evening and weekend activities.

Since this is a short-term and part-time freelance role, we understand that most applicants will be juggling other work and family commitments. That's why we've not been more specific at this stage. Very roughly, for the Kindness Festival volunteer co-ordination role (see task 2 below) we anticipate 25 hours during the week of the Festival, 15 hours after the Festival (thank yous, packing up, evaluation etc) and 10 hours to get underway during December. That would leave 50 hours to be spread over January, February and the first half of March.

We're hopeful of securing an additional 50 hours for volunteer coordination at The Good Heart over the winter (see task 3 below) which again would be spread over the period December- April, with the bulk of the work in December/January to get the team in place.

The rate of pay is £15 per hour, invoiced at the end of each month. We are keen for the successful candidate to manage both projects simultaneously, but there’s also some flexibility around this.

The Good Heart is a community interest company set up to celebrate, practice and explore the difference that kindness can make in our lives. For more information about The Good Heart and the Frome Kindness Festival see www.thegoodheart.uk
